The lowdown on Orange
Orange’s main point of difference from other mobile service providers is that its 2G network covers 99% of the UK population and has the largest integrated 3G/2.5G networkin the UK. The latter covers 90% of the UK population, and Orange is investing over £1 million every working day to develop their network. The 3G networkincludes major cities and towns, as well as major roads, rail routes, business parks, conference centres, hotels and airports. Orange UK has over 17 million customers through its mobile and broadband services. It offers customers two mobile phone packages; pay as you go (Pre-Paid) and monthly service plans. Pay as you go mobile users are given the option to top-up their phone via a swipe card, over the internet, or via a purchase of a receipt from retailers. The pay monthly service gives customers an option of 1, 12, 18, 24 or 36 month contracts. The contracts come 'bundled' with minutes, text messages. Orange like other providers also offer SIM Only plans which require only a 30 day contract. Orange named their Mobile phone packages to animals: Dolphin, Canary, Raccoon and Panther. Some of the plans include unlimited minutes, texts or data. Orange also offers dedicated business plans- Solo, Venture and Momentum.
